La Bouche es un grupo con estilo propio, mucho dance y pop. Melanie fue descubierta en Alemania por la productora FMP. Ella fue la cantante perfecta para el proyecto La Bouche. Su voz se caracteriza por una belleza increíble lo cual produjo que La bouche fuese un suceso en todo el mundo.

El primero single del grupo fue SWEET DREAMS en el año 1994 lo cual fue un éxito inmediato. 3º lugar en Israel , 2º lugar en Italia y España,30º lugar en el Reino Unido y13º lugar en los Estados Unidos. Otro de los sucesos de esos años fue el proyecto de Melanie con Le Clic ( TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT) y con Orange Blue (IF YOU WANNA BE MY ONLY).

El próximo éxito de La bouche fue el conocidísimo BE MY LOVER ,que en la primera semana bate los records y conquista a todo el mundo. (8º lugar en los Estados Unidos , 8º lugar en Israel,1º lugar en Italia, y España nuevamente,10º lugar en Alemania,Holanda , Austria, Suecia,y Bélgica ,y 28º lugar en el Reino Unido. El grupo gana 2 discos de oro en Alemania, uno por los 10 mejores del Pepsi Chart y el otro por ser el grupo más escuchado en las emisoras radiales de Europa, Canadá y Estados unidos.

La Bouche lanza el album SWEET DREAMS que batió records de venta en todo America y permitió entrar al grupo a la historia del Dance de los años 90. Junto con esto se produjo el lanzamiento de los remixes de las canciones FALLING IN LOVE y I LOVE TO LOVE.

Después de un año sin lanzar nada al mercado, La bouche vuelve con el single YOU WON´T FOR GET ME lanzado en Octubre de 1997 y un nuevo álbum llamado A MOMENT OF LOVE lanzado en noviembre del mismo año.

En el año 2000 La Bouche lanza el single ALL I WANT producido por Frank Farian y su sello FMP.

En noviembre del año 2001 Melanie sufre un accidente de aviación que le costó la vida.

En abril del 2002 FMP lanza al mercado un álbum llamado THE Best Of La Bouche Feat. Melanie Torthon; el álbum contiene las mejores canciones del grupo.

Por causa de la muerte de Melanie parecía el fin del grupo,pero el rapero Lane MC Cray estuvo trabajando en su álbum llamado NAKED SONG IN THE KEY OF LOVE el cual fue lanzado a fines del 2002. Lane siente mucho la muerte de su compañera Melanie y afirma que la magia de su estilo jamás podrá ser copiado.
